Job description

POSITION: Front of House
DEPARTMENT: Huntington Theatre
LOCATION: 264 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115
FT or PT: Part-time
SCHEDULE: Weekday afternoons and weeknights preferred, weekends required
STATUS: Seasonal, Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION: $15.00 hourly
REPORTS TO: Huntington Theatre House Manager

The Huntington is looking to expand its Front of House Operations Team at the Huntington
Theatre! Come join our Front of House team at one of Boston’s World Class Performance
Venues.

FOH staff are required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts per week, and all shifts are paid
at a 3-hour minimum.

Front of House Staff have access to complimentary ticket offers to shows in all Huntington operated
venues.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Serve as a professional, friendly, and outgoing representative of the Huntington Theatre and The Huntington.
  • Welcome and greet patrons
  • Prepare and distribute playbills, inserts, and other promotional materials
  • Scan/check tickets
  • Develop an understanding of the layout of the building to provide accurate wayfinding instructions to patrons and clients
  • Serve as ushers, ensuring patrons are seated in a safe and accurate manner
  • Opportunities to train as Bartenders (upon completion of training in all other FOH positions at the Huntington Theatre).
  • Assist with moving furniture (including chairs, tables, stanchions, and stools) to prepare venues and lobby spaces.
  • Attend mandatory Orientation and Emergency Preparation Trainings as scheduled by Management.
  • Answer basic questions patrons have about the theatre and future productions
  • Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and navigate stairs and various levels of the venue.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Huntington Theatre Company expects the following of each employee: adhere to the Huntington’s policies and procedures; work in a safe manner; perform duties as workload necessitates; maintain a positive and respectful attitude; communicate regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in the Huntington’s events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The only requirement is a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and keeping our patrons at the heart of the theatre by providing support and services before, during, and after their theatre-going experience. Prior customer service experience preferred, but on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate.
