Signature Theatre, one of New York's leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking House Managers & Front of House Managers for The Pershing Square Signature Center on West 42nd Street.
Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre celebrates playwrights and gives them an artistic home, producing six to eight productions annually. In 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. In 2012, Signature opened The Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a cafe and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

Signature Theatre is currently seeking House Managers & Front of House Managers for productions starting April 2026
The House Manager supports the audience experience and is an integral part of introducing and maintaining the culture of the Center for the theatre's Season Members, general audience, and visitors. The House Manager is responsible for the safety of the public, ensuring a comfortable environment for audiences to enjoy the Center and its programming. Collaborating with ticket services, volunteers, and other front of house personnel, the House Manager will ensure productions run efficiently.
This part time, seasonal position requires a flexible schedule which generally includes day and evening shifts Tuesday - Sunday. This is a part-time, seasonal position, compensated at $22 per hour.


 The Front of House Manager serves as a Lobby Captain for the theatre's public spaces. This part-time position reports to the Senior Front of House Manager and Director of Rentals & Sales and is an integral part of introducing and maintaining the culture of The Pershing Square Signature Center to Signature's subscribers, general audiences and interested visitors.
This part time, seasonal position requires a flexible schedule which generally includes day and evening shifts Tuesday - Sunday. This is a part-time, seasonal position, compensated at $23 per hour. 

Requirements

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating front of house staff and/or volunteers to facilitate the safe and timely movement of audiences in and out of performance venues
Preparing and communicating informational messages for ticket holders
Maintaining applicable attendance records, verifying ticket stub count, and preparing performance reports of event details
Working closely with Ticket Services to troubleshoot ticketing and customer service issues
Supporting and communicating with front of house staff to provide engaging customer service
Communicating with Stage Managers and other production staff to facilitate performance schedules and troubleshoot various issues
Assisting with special projects as needed


FOHM Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  Monitoring lobby traffic and reporting and responding quickly to issues, inclusive but not limited to security, custodial, lighting, sound and space management
Overseeing the flow of traffic in the lobby, making sure guests are engaged and using facilities as they have been designed to be used
Ensuring the public space is welcoming to all visitors
Orchestrating the delivery of instructions and information to the public in a clear and friendly way
Responsible for the set-up, storage and care of front of house equipment for performances, as well as events planned by Signature Theatre and rental clients
Working closely with House Managers to troubleshoot all ticket problems and patron complaints
Assisting with special projects as needed
Oversee front of house ASRs
Keep management informed of trends and tendencies of the crowds visiting the space
Way finding strategy and management
Thorough knowledge of Signature's emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures as they relate to all persons within the venue
Candidates should be:
Experienced with, or enthusiastic for, a public-facing role
Possessing exemplary customer service and communication skills
Abilities to creatively problem solve and anticipate needs
Experience with a performance venue, restaurant or large public retail space a plus
Positive outlook with a demonstrated ability to work effectively both formally and informally amongst a diversity of communities and cultures 


Primary criteria to be considered for an interview are:
Experienced in audience services in a theatre or performance venue
Demonstrable ability to be a team leader
Possessing or obtaining a FDNY F-03 Certificate of Fitness (Fireguard) within one month of hiring date
Possessing or obtaining a CPR/First Aid Certification
Computer literacy and knowledge of Tessitura/Spektrix
