Job description

The Supervisory Accountant is integral in supporting AIG's General Insurance International Controllership team, with primary responsibility for controllership activities related to the preparation and analysis of quarterly consolidated financial statements for the General Insurance International operating segment in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies. This position is responsible for supporting delivery of consolidated financial information included within the AIG 10-Q/10-K, maintaining data integrity and a robust control environment to provide effective support to the General Insurance International Controllership. This role will also involve partnering with other stakeholders to build strong relationships and collaborate across various functions of the Company, to support an efficient close process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing quarterly consolidated financial statements for AIG General Insurance International's results based on regional submissions, in accordance with US GAAP, for ultimate inclusion within the AIG 10-Q/10-K financial results and segment disclosures
  • Contributing to analytical reviews of segment Balance Sheet and Income Statement
  • Partnering withReinsurance, Actuarial, Investment and regional controllers and International segment toensure transactionsare properly reflected inthe General Insurance International Consolidated financial statements
  • Performing ledger data analysis and remediation, as well as executing journal entries in conjunction with the preparation of financial results for several legal entities
  • Support the audit process with external and internal auditors.
  • Identifying opportunities and contributing to strengthening the control environment and implementing process improvements
  • Provide surge capacity to the General Insurance Controllership during peak quarterly close periods

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Qualified CPA preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in a controllership or financial reporting role at a public company; insurance sector experience a plus
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities, with a clear desire to be part of developing solutions and driving matters to completion.
  • Strong attention to detail, where accuracy and precision are critical to success, yet possessing an ability to step back and understand the broader objectives around analysis of results
  • Systems-technical acumen, with a desire and aptitude to learn and master new financial accounting and reporting systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery, with an ability to effectively work across teams
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, transformational environment, where change is embraced and viewed as an opportunity for one's own professional development and to drive process improvement for the team and broader organization

For positions based in New York and Connecticut, the base salary range is $87,000-109,000. For positions based in New Jersey base salary range is $85,000-107,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
