Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will design, test, and document safety-critical hardware. The role involves developing and supporting FPGA/CPLD designs through all phases of design and system integration for high-reliability embedded aerospace and ground-based vehicle systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform requirements generation, design, RTL synthesis, testbench development, and simulation
- Conduct static timing and power analysis, and requirements-based design verification
- Support prototype evaluation, design reviews, and qualification testing
- Assist with system integration, production support, and obsolescence management
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with relevant experience or a Master's degree with 8+ years of experience
Required Skills
- Aerospace experience, including DO-254 standards
- Circuit design experience with HDL-based FPGA and CPLD development
- Strong knowledge of digital electronics and circuit design principles
- Experience with design/analysis tools such as Timing Designer and Hyperlynx (preferred)
- Hands-on experience in hardware build, testing, and integration
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for FPGA code generation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience integrating FPGAs into embedded digital circuit designs
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
Preferred Skills
- Experience with microprocessor/microcontroller interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, ARINC-825)
- Knowledge of memory interfaces (SDRAM, Flash, SRAM) and serial interfaces (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS422, RS485, AFDX ARINC-664)
- Experience with FPGA platforms such as Microsemi, Xilinx, Lattice, Altera
- Familiarity with DO-254 hardware development processes
- Experience with tools like Synplify, ModelSim, and Questasim
- Knowledge of high-speed digital circuit card design and signal integrity analysis
- Proficiency in VHDL, SystemVerilog, and UVM testbenches
- Experience with requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., DOORS)
