Job description


Job Summary
The Test Engineer will work in and support the Product Integrity department of the Power Management business unit. This team executes test cases to meet the design validation phase of the New Product Development (NPD) process. Products may have a regional scope or a global scope.
The Test Engineer will design, plan, track and direct all test activities for Vertiv Product Development (VPD) programs and Engineer-to-Order (ETO) projects; develop test cases, conduct test cases, and review test data. Participate in weekly project meeting by providing schedule updates. Participate in project planning activities to define the scope and schedule of the project. Troubleshoot equipment and units under test. Setup and conduct tests to support field issues.
This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Delaware, OH location.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and track the daily, weekly, and monthly test activities for their projects.
  • Request technician support and negotiate resources with the Engineering Test Manager .
  • Ensure the test activities are on time and meeting the schedule.
  • Setup the unit under test and other equipment which entails connecting large cables (up to 50lbs).
  • Setup instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power meters, CTs, voltage probes, and other equipment).
  • Execute test cases, operate unit under test, operate the instrumentation, collect data, and document the results.
  • Render pass/fail verdicts and report results t0 the development team and project manager.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with test setups and with units under test.
  • Follow 5S and safety policies.
  • Suggest continuous improvement opportunities.

Requirements:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 1 to 3 years of experience OR A.S. in Electrical Engineering and 3 to 5 years of experience OR Equivalent Industry Experience.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical and mechanical test techniques.
  • Experience with 208/230/480V/600V 3-phase 60/50 Hz wiring and equipment.
  • Experience with 120v 1-phase 60Hz wiring and equipment.
  • Experience with instrumentation and low volt wiring.
  • Experience with electrical safety tools and techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • General mechanical skills assembling and disassembling electrical equipment including but not limited to, high power electronics, large magnetic components, circuit boards, high current wiring etc.
  • Must have good working knowledge and skills in testing of electrical equipment.
  • Must be able to read electronic and electrical schematics.
  • Good troubleshooting skills related to AC and DC power circuits.
  • Basic experience setting up and using oscilloscopes, power meters for 3 phase measurements.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk while performing tasks 50% of the time.
