Job description

Accounting Manager, Accounting Systems

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Controllers Group as a Manager with a focus on project execution for the FinX project. You will execute on high priority projects for the company in support of our strategy and vision. Your responsibilities will be linked to the planning, coordination and implementation of changes across our Accounting Systems. The accuracy of these systems is essential to reporting correct financial information to our executives, regulators, and investors. Throughout this project, you will have the ability to understand our current and future systems along with upstream and downstream processes that will impact these systems including line of business dependencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand SEC Reporting, Workiva, and financial system value streams

  • Serve as main POC for all testing related communications, ensuring stakeholders and project team are informed of process, issues, and results for the SEC workstream

  • Support the development of test cases and templates, perform test execution, summarize results and facilitate test planning

  • Coordinate the review of test results with SEC stakeholders to ensure awareness of results and/or issues, attain approval, and/or share remediation approach

  • Train and manage other team members in support of project testing

  • Partner with SOX, FRM and Internal Audit to facilitate delivery of asks and preparation to achieve go-live readiness

  • Facilitate implementation of FinX into SEC Reporting BAU processes

  • Recommend changes or modifications to the existing processes and standards

  • Maintain up-to-date understanding and documentation of processes that impact GL, SEC technical solutions, Workiva, and SEC Reporting. This includes activities, risks and issues, assumptions and dependencies

  • Agile performer duties and responsibilities required by Capital One

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or a combination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial System, Workday, Oracle or another large financial system

  • Experience with Workiva or a similar reporting platform

  • Experience with OneStream or similar EPM application

  • Experience working on projects using an Agile framework, preferably Scrum or Kanban

  • Experience using Jira

  • Experience with QuickSight or Tableau

  • 1+ years' experience working in an Agile Environment

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Manager, Accounting


Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Manager, Accounting


Wilmington, DE: $138,100 - $157,700 for Manager, Accounting









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
