$55,000-60,000 per year
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education
  • College or culinary degree from an accredited institution preferred; Food Management Professional (FMP) certification preferred; equivalent combination of culinary training and progressive kitchen management experience will be considered.

Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of high-volume food service management experience required; K-12 or contract food service experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing kitchen teams, controlling food and labor costs, executing production schedules, and maintaining food safety and sanitation compliance in a high-volume environment.

Certifications
  • ServSafe certification required; local food safety certification required in any jurisdiction of employment; OSHA certification preferred; must complete all Company-sponsored training requirements.

Technical Proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; ability to learn new software programs; proficiency in recipe procedures and cooking techniques required.

  • Strong leadership and team development skills; ability to manage and coach kitchen staff in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER DETAILS
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are generally aligned with the school or account service schedule. Extended hours may be required in support of special events, new account openings, or peak operational periods.
Travel Requirements
This position is primarily site-based. Occasional travel to other Whitsons locations may be required. A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are preferred.
Physical Demands of the Job
The Team Member is required to stand on their feet for the majority of the workday; frequently walk, talk, and hear; use hands and fingers to handle food, tools, and equipment; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including while turning side to side. Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a kitchen and food service production environment. The Team Member will regularly work in and around storerooms, ovens, and freezers, with exposure to moderate to loud noise levels. Standing is required for the majority of the workday.
