Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent engineering experience.
  • 5 years of experience in test engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience developing and integrating manufacturing test hardware using custom electronics, fixturing, and instrumentation.
  • Experience of coding in Python, Bash, and Shell scripting to generate product-specific test plans and executing test processes accordingly.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with manufacturing, functional, and RMA/failure analysis testing for server, storage, and networking products (liquid- or air-cooled).
  • Experience in establishing system calibration, gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), and correlation study for each change management.
  • Experience with test stations bringing-up, calibration and setup for production test purposes.
  • Experience with design for test (DfT) and System level Functional Test (L6/L10).
  • Knowledge with the Linux operating system and command line tools.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement of test systems and processes for increased manufacturability.

In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will develop, enhance and sustain manufacturing test processes, tools and procedures for manufacturing operation of products to be deployed at Google Data Center. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you'll be right there alongside ensuring manufacturing test processes are repeatable and controlled.
In this role, you'll collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) engineers, hardware/software Design Engineers and Quality Engineers to drive continuous improvements to products and manufacturing processes. Your work will ensure the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, optimize and deploy server test platforms for Google compute/storage/ML server at the global manufacturing partner factory with focus on RMA/Refin/Dekit second source.
  • Partner with the NPI team to define design for test (DFT) requirements and provide input to Manufacturing Test Strategy.
  • Provide caliber manufacturing test engineering support for new and existing products.
  • Drive initiatives to improve test process efficiencies, improve test coverage, and reduce cost.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and root cause of manufacturing yield issues and data center field escapes. Drive sustaining test issues to closure with corrective and preventive measures.
