Dohrn is currently seeking an Assistant Terminal Manager at our Northlake, IL Terminal.

Schedule - Monday to Friday 6pm Start Time

Position Summary:
To assist in providing Leadership and Managing every aspect of the Terminal Operations with a focus on Safety and World Class Customer Service.


Essential Functions:

• Responsible for providing the highest level of Safety possible
• Responsible for providing the highest level of Customer Service possible, both internal and external
• Responsible to assist in managing the Terminal personnel with a focus on Safety, teamwork, morale, and Customer Service
• Responsible to follow, communicate, and enforce all Company Policies, Procedures, and Goals
• Responsible to keep the terminal adequately staffed by making any staffing recommendations to the TM
• Assist in supervising, coaching, mentoring and motivating employees while leading by example
• Maintain the highest level of On-Time service possible
• Maintain the highest level of Cost Control possible
• Assist with all Supervisory functions when needed
• Assist with office clerical functions when needed
• Work in a safe, professional manner to reduce personal risks and risks to fellow employees
• Comply with Federal, State, and Company regulations
• Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way at all times
• Must ensure proper equipment maintenance
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Must gain and maintain via training full knowledge of Driver Check in Process, 24 Hour operation of DMs, LH Dispatching functions, and all pertinent CLI functionality.
• Must communicate to TM via email on any and all operational needs or requirements daily to include a nighty/daily shift closeout email.
• Must use reporting tools such as Tableau to monitor/coach/and make needed adjustments to the operation including but not limited to: Driver productivity Report; Freight on Dock Report; Dock Productivity reports Scan Time Reports; Dimensioner Usage Reports; UKG timekeeping


Minimum Requirements:

• A minimum age of 18
• High School completion or equivalent
• Valid Driver License
• Previous LTL management experience
• Supervisory experience required
• Ability to relocate within 12 to 24 months is preferred.
• Ability to work any shift.
• Must have the knowledge and ability to perform all Operations jobs in the Terminal including Dock, Dispatch, Warehouse, and Routing
• Must have extensive knowledge of Deere Factory product and the freight movement process
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Detail-oriented, organized
• Must meet all physical requirements
• Must have certification in forklift safety and hazardous material handling
• Ability to multi-task and react to change productively
• Excellent attendance

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Common material handling tools may be used: forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors
• Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending, reaching, and lifting both above and below waist level may be required
• Heavy lifting may be required
• May be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions in the dock environment
• The office environment is generally favorable; Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are minimal hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
• Visual Acuity including regular use of items including a computer screen or monitor
• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers
• Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information; May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others
• Working on any shift as may be dictated by the needs of the operation
