Temporary Wait Staff / Event Servers
Scope:
Positioned at Bonterra Organic Vineyards just north of downtown Hopland, you will assist in providing setup, service and breakdown at private company events for key trade customers, special guests and employees at our properties in Ukiah and Hopland.
The main event site at our McNab Ranch-located between Hopland and Ukiah-has multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces ranging from a rustic, lofty barn to an outdoor terrace for al fresco dining overlooking the vineyards.
Events at McNab Ranch are focused on tours, tastings, and carefully curated cuisine to provide our guests with a hands on, educational, fun and memorable experience.
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Set up and break down chairs, tables, and additional event furniture.
  • Wine tasting setup and breakdown, including opening wines, setting out glasses, pouring wines, and cleaning up.
  • Provide food and wine service. Work with the Executive Chef - Director of Estate Hospitality, members of our hospitality team, caterers, and catering event staff to serve food and wine, bus tables, and clean up.
  • May assist with food and beverage preparation tasks.

Required:
  • Catering or FOH restaurant experience.
  • Ability to be flexible with change, solve problems and adjust to event needs in real time.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, guests and supervisors.
  • Learn about the event sites and location of event supplies.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent service.
  • Quality oriented, have a positive attitude and the ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
  • Must have a high degree of flexibility with scheduling, willing to work various schedules, hours and days depending on the event and business needs. For the most part, events are during daytime hours Monday - Friday, however there may be weekend shifts. On occasion, there may be some dinner events lasting until approximately 8 pm, with cleanup and teardown to follow. Although it varies, if selected for a shift, it would most likely be in the range of 5 - 7 hours.
  • During busy periods, effort will be made to provide employees with adequate advance notice should overtime become necessary. All overtime work must have prior authorization of the employee's supervisor before it is performed.
  • Age requirement of 21 years or older due to serving alcohol.
  • Requires ability to complete food safety-related certifications upon hire.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis; push and pull up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis; requires ability to walk, sit, stand, squat, bend or kneel on a frequent basis; reach outward and upward, climb, crawl on an occasional basis; requires frequent hand and finger dexterity and occasional work at a computer. May occasionally require hearing PPE and safety glasses. Additional physical requirements required as related to domestic travel via air and ground transportation. Able to work in all weather conditions including hot/cold weather temperatures, mud, dust, soft soil, uneven terrain.
Location:
This position will be primarily based at our Bonterra Vineyards/Mc Nab Homeplace facility located at 2231 McNab Ranch Road Ukiah, CA with occasional events held at our corporate office located at 12901 Old River Rd Hopland, CA 95449 and other local venues.
Compensation:
The target hourly range for this role is $25 to $30 per hour. Actual rates will vary and are based on a candidate's relevant education, qualifications, experience, skillset, competencies, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.
