Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:

The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is an experienced registered nurse who is accountable for the effective clinical care coordination of trauma patients and their families/caregivers to eliminate barriers to timely care, facilitate seamless care transitions and increase patient and provider satisfaction. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is the front-line point of contact for the patient to proactively identify needs and ensure trauma patients have access to emotional support and clinical guidance throughout their care within the complex UCI Health system. Triages and responds or refers inquiries appropriately including Identifying and resolving delays and obstacles and developing and implementing solutions as needed. Works with Trauma Medical Director (TMD) /and Trauma Program Manager (TPM) for the development and growth of the program. Provides nursing services and other responsibilities as assigned.


What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
  • Understands the age-specific cognitive, physical, emotional and maturation process
  • Five years of recent RN experience in a related clinical setting such as ICU or ED
  • Demonstrates customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Demonstrated experience working in a busy, highly detailed environment
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Experience working with trauma patients in a clinical setting
  • Experience navigating patients through a complex healthcare system
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support

  • Education:
  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing
