Job description

Job Title: RPR / Construction Inspector
Job Description

Join our team as an RPR / Construction Inspector, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Your primary responsibility will be to provide on-site representation, ensuring project quality and progress while maintaining comprehensive documentation throughout each project's duration.

Responsibilities

  • Remain on the jobsite daily throughout active construction.
  • Conduct on-site observations to ensure contractor work aligns with plans, specs, and contract documents.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, markups, and other project documentation.
  • Review and track progress schedules, shop drawings, samples, and contractor submittals.
  • Attend preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings with the contractor and engineer.
  • Support jobsite safety programs and follow required protocols.
  • Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities.
  • Coordinate with the assigned engineer and communicate field issues, recommending solutions as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Professional experience in the construction and/or construction inspection of wet utility systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction reporting software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with water/wastewater utilities inspection, INDOT roadway or bridge inspection, or wet utility construction.
  • Experience with Pressure Testing, Hydrostatic Testing, Air Testing, Leak Testing, Chlorination & De‑chlorination (Disinfection), Vacuum Testing, Mandrel Testing.
  • Construction Foremen, Leads, or Managers with 5+ years in wet utilities or treatment plant construction are encouraged to apply.
Work Environment

The role requires overnight travel depending on project location, with efforts made to keep inspectors close to home when possible. Mileage reimbursement is offered at 72.5 cents per mile. Lodging is provided in hotels or apartments paid directly by the organization, with a per diem of $40 per day for meals. Standard construction hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility based on season and contractor's schedule. Overtime is expected, and candidates should be comfortable working 50+ hours per week during peak periods.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
