Job description

Title: Temp Packer/Laborer
Location: Valparaiso, IN
Shift: 12-hour shift; 6pm-6am- week 1 (M, Tu, Sat, Sun) Week 2 (W, Th, Fr). (Train on days)
Pay: $18.50/hour
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (These areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to):
  • Working safely, following all plant rules, reporting all near misses and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Keeping work areas clean and organized.
  • Monitoring equipment condition and communicating any deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Packing 25 kg (55 lbs.) bags (up to 600 in a 12-hourperiod)
  • Assisting with ancillary processes (such as presses, bag filters, refeed, etc.)
  • Cleaning out equipment during process changes and between batches as needed.
  • Assisting Production Supervisor and Dry and Wet End Operators as needed.
  • Taking samples of product throughout the whole process, and maintaining sample identification.
  • Proper labeling of product bags to ensure product traceability throughout the process.
  • Accurately filling out necessary paperwork to record process information.
  • Completes any and all other duties, as required or assigned.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Frequent lifting (34 - 66% of the day). Must be able to lift up to 55lbs. repeatedly.
  • Constant standing (66 – 100% of the day).
  • Frequent overhead reaching (34 - 66% of the day).
  • Constant use of upper extremities, i.e. hands and arms (66 – 100% of the day).
  • Ability to negotiate on grated floors up to three stories high.
REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prefer the temps to have 8” steel toed boots but will accept 6” steel toed boots.
