Your Day-to-Day as a Millwright:

Safety

  • Actively participates in Drax Safety culture through DATS for safety conversations, observations, and training.
  • Supports leadership in mentoring and training employees, ensuring proper documentation and competence.
  • Maintains high housekeeping standards in the department with team involvement.
  • Utilizes SDS for chemical safety training for all employees.
  • Completes safety-related Plant Operator Development Program requirements.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely on company radios in line with Drax’s procedures.
  • Actively engages in Drax's OH&S Committee.

Technical

Routine Daily Maintenance (75%)

  • Conducts regular maintenance on machines to uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Installs, inspects, and repairs a variety of mechanical equipment, collaborating with other trades to enhance efficiency and safety.

Shutdown and Strategic Capital Projects (15%)

  • Assists in project planning and execution, ensuring safety, quality, and timeliness in collaboration with team members.

Mentorship and Leadership to Maintenance Staff (10%)

  • Champions the Drax Safety Program and mentors Millwright Apprentices in their professional development.

What you’ll bring:
To excel in this vital role, you’ll need:

  • Red Seal Certified Millwright
  • 5+ years in heavy industry (pellet, particle board, or fibre board preferred).
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with wet precipitators and heavy industry operations is advantageous.
  • Proficient in mobile equipment operation and work order systems.
  • Independent worker and adaptable to schedule changes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
