Portfolio Analyst - BA08CE

The Portfolio Analyst serves as a data and financial manager within the IT Claims & Operations organization. The role is responsible for supporting Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) practices while also engineering the future of how IT portfolio, operations, financial accountability, and executive insights are delivered. This position focuses on the emerging intersection of portfolio analytics and engineering enablement, partnering with technical teams to develop scalable processes and automated usage patterns.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Essential Accountabilities:
1. Agile Financial Strategy & Value Stream Operations
  • Maintain the interface between Agile delivery metrics and traditional corporate financial requirements (monthly, quarterly, and forecasting).
  • Support Sr. portfolio analysis and financial hygiene across value streams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
  • Collaborate with Finance and Executive Leadership on strategic budget planning, project tracking, AI enablement, and financial variance reporting.
  • Innovate new reporting presentations utilizing automated and AI-enhanced interactive dashboards that provide IT leadership with high-fidelity visibility into portfolio health, strategic investment alignment, and realized business outcomes.
  • Develop and implement innovative ideas leverage next-generation AI tools with portfolio financials and IT development analytics. This includes aligning agile delivery data metrics (such as cycle time and feature throughput) with traditional financial requirements, including invest and run, variance analysis, and multi-year forecasting.
2. Portfolio Analytical Engineering
  • Design and deploy new tools and processes that automate financial reporting and integrate portfolio data that results in operational efficiency.
  • Serve as an innovator and developer for portfolio tooling, building prototypes that accelerate insight delivery and reduce manual intervention.
  • Translate technical and AI concepts into portfolio-relevant insights, enabling leadership to track the adoption and impact of AI-enabled initiatives.
  • Help develop new IT management patterns that will emerge from new AI development models (Agents, Orchestration, Automation)
  • Identify and implement opportunities to modernize the management and consumption of portfolio data.
3. Leadership & Delivery Strategic Alignment
  • Actively engage with delivery teams to assist with portfolio management, IT contracts, resources, allocations, and directly support business and leadership to align strategy themes.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, and development teams to ensure the portfolio actively supports IT delivery goals in the new AI driven development.
Sustain a CIO-level portfolio view, preparing & automating materials for portfolio health.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of IT portfolio management experience
  • Familiarity with software development processes, including iterative and incremental methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing financials and understanding IT financial management practices.
  • Solid understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile frameworks
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel.
  • Strong ability to influence and build effective partnerships across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • 1 year of industry experience preferred.

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$79,200 - $118,800
