Job description

Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Group Home & Day Habilitation Settings
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $17.00 per hour
Location: Staten Island, NY


Position Summary
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide hands-on care and support to individuals in group home and day habilitation settings. This role focuses on assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. You will work closely with individuals and interdisciplinary teams to support personalized care plans and community engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule / Shift
    • Shift details: 1st (Morning), 2nd (Afternoon/Evening), and 3rd (Overnight) shifts available
    • Hours per week: 40
  • Key Duties:
    • Assist individuals with personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation
    • Support participation in community outings, therapy, and habilitation programs
    • Administer medications following AMAP certification
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment
    • Document daily activities, progress, and incidents
    • Participate in interdisciplinary planning and team meetings
    • Provide coverage across assigned program areas
    • Remain on-site until relief staff arrives

Requirements
  • Education
    • Required: N/A
    • Preferred (if applicable): High School diploma or equivalent
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Required: CPR/BLS Certification
    • Additional certifications (if applicable): AMAP Certification (highly preferred), valid driver's license (preferred), additional medical certifications (preferred)
Skills:
  • Compassionate and respectful demeanor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow kosher dietary laws and religious protocols
  • Experience supporting mobility needs, including use of hoyer lifts and wheelchairs
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
