Primary Purpose of Position
The Advanced Practice Provider in Student Health Services plays a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of the student population. The APP provides accessible, high-quality, and culturally competent healthcare to students, supporting their academic success and personal development. This position focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions, health education, and collaboration with campus partners to foster a healthy campus environment.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Provide direct patient care for a wide range of health concerns, including acute illnesses, chronic conditions, mental health support, and preventive care. Conduct physical exams, obtain medical histories, and develop treatment plans. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and institutional policies. Educate students on health maintenance, disease prevention, and lifestyle choices.
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Minimum Requirements
Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing or Physican Assistant Studies Minimum of 2 years of experience in primary care and or student health
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
At least 2 years of experience in college health, family medicine, or urgent care. Ability to work effectively with all (diverse) populations.
Commitment to student-centered care and health equity. Proficiency in EHR systems and telehealth platforms.
Required License or Certification
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina BLS certification
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.
