Job description

Description

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking for a first-time role in publishing administration or for someone who simply likes a role where they have to be organized and methodical.


This temporary (one-year) role will support the integration of Rowman & Littlefield by managing our copyright registrations for titles, working directly with authors to assist in collecting up-to-date contact and banking information, organizing author contact and title information for contract addendum outreach, online research, as well as various administrative tasks and ensuring consistency across the division. This role will be pivotal to the success of the wider team by adding a layer of support that currently does not exist.

The role will report into the Manager, Editorial Development and work closely with colleagues in the Greenbelt, MD office.

The role

  • Manage US copyright registrations.ย 
  • Work directly with authors to collect sensitive information.
  • Online research.ย 
  • General administrative tasks as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.ย 

Requirements

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, combined with ability to prioritize appropriately.
  • Attention to detail, accurate proofreading.
  • Handle and communicate information sensitively and professionally.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) to internal and external contacts.
  • Focuses on solutions, not problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Accurate and fast typing skills.
  • Basic office skills, including using a printer and scanner.
  • Effective teamworkย 

We are willing to consider candidates who don't have a publishing background but are looking for a temporary administrative role.

Pay: $21.98

Hourly non-exempt


Location

Candidates must live in MD, DC, or VA within a commutable distance to our Greenbelt, MD office and work a hybrid schedule.
