Job description

Medical Temporaries, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced ***Medical Billing Specialist***.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
This is a FULL TIME/TEMP TO HIRE position requiring availability between the hours of 8AM-5PM, Monday through Friday, located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities:
A Day in the life of a Medical Billing Specialist:

As a Medical Billing Specialist you will process and follow up on billing, review remittance advice forms to verify proper reimbursement, and adjust as necessary.
Duties:
Checks to ensure that office and ASC records for patients include all information required for reimbursement
Verifies correct coding to ensure prompt payment
Inputs correct billing information and transmits electronically to the carrier
Consults with claim clerks about any disputed claims and follows up on all bills not processed within the usual claim period
Reviews remittance advice forms to determine any adjustments made to bills as submitted and consults with the office
Prepares weekly and monthly reports of billing for the office as requested
Attends training to keep abreast of changes in billing procedures
Phone duty on rotation with other billing staff
And any other duties required

Requirements for the Medical Billing Specialist:
  • Required: Must have verbal communication skills and hearing ability to discuss billing with medical staff, patients, and insurance carriers.
  • Required: Ability to pass Background Check and Drug Screen
  • Required: Must be reliable and a quick learner and have ability to multi-task with accuracy in a very busy environment

Preferred Qualifications for the Medical Billing Specialist:
  • Preferred: Ophthalmology experience
  • Preferred: Athena experience
  • Preferred: Surgical billing experience
