Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Behavioral Health Director to lead our clinical team in delivering high-quality mental health and behavioral care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive clinical expertise, and a passion for improving community health outcomes. This role involves overseeing clinical operations, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement in behavioral health services.

Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all behavioral health programs, including mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and neurodevelopmental disorder services.
  • Supervise clinical staff, including clinicians, therapists, case managers, and support personnel, ensuring effective team management and professional development.
  • Treats a patient and develops treatment plan according to the needs of the patient's needs and extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental or behavioral disorder. 
  • Oversee patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Implement evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care across programs.
  • Coordinate intake processes, crisis management protocols, group therapy sessions, and family involvement to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations including ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10), EMR/EHR management, and medical records documentation.
  • Foster a culturally competent environment that respects diverse backgrounds while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Requirements

Doctoral level degree in Psychiatry or related mental health field

Licensed to practice in New York State

At least 1 year full-time paid experience in clinical management in an OMH Licensed or FQHC setting.

Experience in an integrated behavioral health model and NYS Art 28, 31 and 32 regulations

Ability to travel to multiple sites

Excellent communication and writing skills, Microsoft Office and computer knowledge needed

Cultural and linguistic sensitivity to populations served

Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

Our behavioral health offices are located in Dunkirk and Jamestown, NY.
