Job description

An Aflac Agency Owner is an independent business owner responsible for building, leading, and growing an Aflac insurance agency. This role involves recruiting, training, coaching, and managing a team of licensed insurance agents while developing new business opportunities and maintaining relationships with business clients. Agency Owners are accountable for driving sales performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of insurance agents.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve agency growth and revenue goals.
  • Prospect and cultivate relationships with businesses to offer Aflac’s supplemental health and life insurance products.
  • Lead sales presentations and client consultations to educate employers and employees on available benefits.
  • Coach agents on sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer relationship management.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, providing ongoing feedback and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with state insurance regulations, company policies, and ethical sales practices.
  • Manage agency operations, including business planning, budgeting, and performance reporting.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients to promote retention, referrals, and additional sales opportunities.
  • Represent the Aflac brand within the local business community through networking and community involvement.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Active state health and life insurance license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Previous experience in sales, business development, management, or insurance is preferred.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead successful teams.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate an independent business.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Compensation

Agency Owners are independent contractors whose income is generally performance-based and may include commissions on personal sales, overrides based on agency production, performance incentives and bonuses, renewal commissions, and business growth incentives where applicable.

Work Environment

The role is primarily field-based, with local travel to meet business clients. Agency Owners have a flexible schedule and the ability to manage an independent business. The work may include office responsibilities, client meetings, recruiting events, and networking activities.
