Job description

We are currently accepting applications for licensed temporary marine engineering positions including 2nd Assistant Engineer, and 3rd Assistant Engineer. These temporary relief positions will fill in while the permanent crew are on shore, and applications will be reviewed on an as-needed basis.
Candidates should possess basic operational understanding and experience working with shipboard systems, fuel oil bunkering procedures & emergency response, an understanding of shipboard electrical systems, basic machine & hand tool safe use and basic math & computer skills. Strong mechanical problem solving skills are essential to succeed in this role.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following: a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's Credential endorsed as [Third or Second] Assistant Engineer of steam, Motor and Gas Rubine Propelled Vessels. Officer in charge of an engineering watch (OICEW) endorsement is also required. Applicants must have all applicable training as required by the Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers. The following unexpired documents are also required: U.S. Passport, TWIC card, unexpired (STCW Expiration date) USCG medical certification, and a valid drivers license. Applicants must also be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug test.
Preferred experience: experience with newer vessel propulsion systems and equipment.
Position Details:
New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Salary Schedule , Grade 80 (3rd A/E) or Grade 81 (2nd A/E), based on education and experience.
