Open Pool PositionPosition Title: CLASSIFED SUBSTITUTE (Educational Assistant, Secretarial, Custodian, Food Service, etc.)
Location: Nestucca Valley School District
Reports To: Building Principal
POSITION PURPOSE: This position includes subbing for active employees who are not able to work for various reasons. All substitutes are expected to perform the work requested by the District in which they are placed.
QUALIFICATION: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  1. High School Diploma Required.
  2. Knowledge of tutorial/instructional procedures preferred for positions working with children.
  3. Experience supervising or assisting children preferred for position working with children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Work harmoniously with and communicate effectively with students, parents and staff
  2. Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  3. Patrol halls, cafeteria, lavatories and supervise students outdoors while loading and unloading buses and on the playground during recess as assinged.
  4. Remain in assigned classroom until all students have been dismissed for the day
  5. Assist with students requiring total care (i.e. feeding, lifting, toileting, cleaning)
  6. Assist with students who are experiencing behavioral difficulties or may be verbally/physically aggressive
  7. Maintain confidentiality
  8. Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor
  9. Sanitize desks, tables, straws, oral motor equipment and other items as directed.
  10. Arrange classroom furniture as directed.
  11. Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations
  12. Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and community
  13. Perform other reasonably related duties that the Supervisor may assign
