Temp to hire Staff Accountant (Property Accounting)
Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 annually
Employment Type: Temporary
Location: Palm Beach County, FL (Onsite)

Position Overview
A growing commercial real estate organization is seeking a Temp Staff Accountant to provide accounting support during a period of portfolio expansion and new property acquisitions. This role will assist with month-end close activities, financial reporting, and day-to-day property accounting functions while helping the team meet critical reporting deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have prior property accounting experience, a solid understanding of general accounting principles, and the ability to quickly contribute in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain experience with a growing real estate portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
  • Assist with monthly financial close processes for assigned commercial properties
  • Prepare workpapers, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Record journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense allocations
  • Maintain accuracy of general ledger accounts and financial data
  • Support the timely preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements
  • Help ensure all reporting deadlines are met
Property Accounting
  • Support accounting activities for commercial real estate portfolios and third-party managed properties
  • Assist with property-level financial reporting and analysis
  • Take ownership of accounting responsibilities for smaller or less complex properties
  • Support commercial association and property management accounting functions
  • Assist with new property onboarding and transition activities
General Accounting & Special Projects
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with budgeting and variance analysis as needed
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects and departmental initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior accountants and accounting management during peak close periods
  • Provide additional accounting support as business needs evolve
Required Qualifications
  • Property accounting experience is required
  • Minimum 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property management
  • Experience with:
    • Month-end close
    • General ledger accounting
    • Journal entries and accruals
    • Financial statement preparation
    • Account reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
Technical Skills
  • Experience with MRI software preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and reconciliations
  • Experience with property management or real estate accounting systems is a plus
Education
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Relevant property accounting experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
