Job description

Our client is hiring for a Staff Accountant in Atlanta, GA. This newly created role supports the accounting team with month-end close, account reconciliations, and job cost accruals across multiple entities. The Staff Accountant will work closely with controllers and project managers on overhead budgets, tax filings, and business licensing, gaining broad exposure to construction/project-based accounting. Heavy Excel use, including complex formulas, makes this a great fit for someone who enjoys building efficient, detail-driven processes. It's an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to grow alongside experienced controllers in a collaborative environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and investigate discrepancies, escalating issues as needed
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns for various local and state entities
  • Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries, including job cost accruals, ensuring accurate cost allocations and period recognition
  • Support controllers throughout month-end close, assisting with financial statement preparation and review for multiple entities


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance1-3 years of related accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
