Job description

Position Summary

Watchfire Signs is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of electronics for LED displays, scoreboards, and related systems. This role is a key technical contributor responsible for delivering robust, manufacturable hardware solutions from concept through production.

You will work across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and supply chain teams while driving high-impact product development.


Responsibilities

- Design and develop electronic systems including digital, firmware, and power circuits

- Own schematic development, component selection, and PCB design reviews

- Lead hardware development from concept through validation and production release

- Troubleshoot complex system and board-level issues; drive root cause analysis

- Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams on product development

- Support new product introduction (NPI), pilot builds, and production ramp

- Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to improve cost, quality, and yield

- Evaluate and implement component changes related to supply chain or obsolescence

- Create and maintain engineering documentation (schematics, BOMs, test plans)


Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

- 7+ years of hardware design experience in a product development environment

- Strong background in digital design

- Ability to write embedded firmware for microcontrollers and FPGAs

- Experience with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)

- Hands-on experience with lab equipment and hardware debugging

- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver results

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- LED display systems, outdoor electronics, or high-reliability products

- Embedded systems and hardware/firmware integration

- Experience working with global supply chains
