Job description

Commercial Real Estate Attorney
Location: North Carolina (must reside in state for duration of assignment)
Employment Type: Temporary W-2 Contract
Duration: Approximately 6 weeks, with potential to extend (not eligible for conversion to direct hire)
Schedule: 30 to 40 hours per week
Start: ASAP, within one week of acceptance and clearance
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a large, regional full-service law firm to identify an experienced Commercial Real Estate Attorney for a short-term contract engagement. This assignment requires an experienced attorney who can step in quickly, operate independently, and confidently manage active transactions from day one.
Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a high volume of commercial real estate transactions from inception through closing
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial real estate documents, including:
    • Purchase and sale agreements
    • Commercial lease agreements
    • Development and construction-related agreements
    • Joint venture and partnership agreements
    • Loan and financing documents
  • Conduct thorough due diligence, including title review, survey analysis, zoning, and regulatory compliance
  • Advise clients on land use, development issues, and project structuring
  • Lead and support lease negotiations for landlords and tenants, including key financial and operational terms
  • Coordinate and support real estate closings, ensuring proper execution of documents and compliance with all legal requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including lenders, title companies, and local authorities
  • Address and help resolve transactional issues and disputes as they arise
Representative Matters May Include
  • Acquisition, disposition, and leasing of commercial assets (office, industrial, retail, and mixed-use)
  • Structuring and negotiation of construction and permanent financing transactions
  • Sale/leaseback transactions, joint ventures, and like-kind exchanges
  • Development projects including office buildings, retail centers, distribution facilities, and healthcare campuses
  • Multi-state real estate transactions and portfolio deals
  • Ongoing support for real estate investors, developers, lenders, landlords, and tenants
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of recent experience practicing commercial real estate law within a U.S. law firm environment
  • Active license and in good standing with the North Carolina Bar
  • Must reside in North Carolina for the duration of the assignment
  • Proven ability to independently run deals and manage transactions with minimal supervision
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Experience handling sophisticated commercial real estate matters, including financing and development work
  • Ability to quickly integrate into an active practice and manage competing priorities
  • Availability to work 30+ hours per week with no extended time off planned during the assignment
  • Ability to complete all pre-employment requirements, including conflicts checks, employment and education verification, and a criminal background check
Compensation
  • Pay rate is commensurate with experience and ranges from $70 to $145 per hour
