The Project Leader 1 (Telecommunications) is a leadership position responsible for supporting the overall strategy, execution of deliverables, project completion & profitable outcomes for a significantly complex project &/or multiple projects simultaneously. This position will require proficient understanding and knowledge of Telecommunication Systems including Fiber Optic & Structured Cabling, CCTV, OSP & ISP Copper, along with DAS.
The Project Leader 1 (Telecommunications) is expected to provide overall development, training & leadership to Junior Project Leadership, Field-Superintendents & Trades personnel as it relates to the strategic planning, overall implementation & ownership of project completion.
Responsibilities
  • Leading the design and deployment of Integrated Infrastructure and telecommunications systems.
  • Establishing and implementing procedures and controls to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Assisting the project Superintendent and Engineering in the preparation of project documentation requirements, project layout, and field office support.
  • Managing Subcontractors related to M.C. Deans installation scope.
  • Developing and maintaining resource-loaded project schedule in MS Project.
  • Coordinating and running a project kick-off meeting (PKOM) and key monthly project (KPR) reviews.
  • Forecasting cash flow and manpower needs for projects.
  • Working with the project team to develop budgets with cost codes for allocating manpower to the schedule for foreman level tracking.
  • Researching and compiling submittals, identifying/pricing change orders and preparing estimates for projects.
  • Preparing a design/build project estimate based on design criteria.
  • Meeting with customers to present proposals and cost estimates.
  • Interpreting and explaining plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Conferring with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Coordinating the acquisition of all materials, monitoring tools and equipment requirements with the project team and the warehouse.
  • Overall financial management of the project (s).
  • Responsible to keep the profitability at and/above budget.
  • Assuring a timely completion of a project including the completion of punch-list items, the submittal of accurate as-built drawings, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Responsible for the completion of all training and other administrative requirements of the contract documents.
  • Monitoring project budgets to ensure positive cash flow and to maintain profitability.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvement and incorporating best practices.

o Experienced in the Commissioning & Testing of diverse specialty systems.
• Extensive experience in leading complex projects and managing diverse project teams & specialties.
• Proven understanding and track record of successful projects with the ability to perform key functions from project inception to completion.
• Ability to successfully monitor a multitude of Telecommunications projects averaged from 500K - $10M in budget.
• Experience partnering with a multitude of project groups that involve multi-discipline knowledge for example:
o Fire Alarm, Communications, Security, AV, Power, and Instrumentation.
• Can direct cross function teams to reach mutual agreement to meet business objectives.
• Capable of writing detailed RFPs and Scopes of work.
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in construction specific to Telecommunications & Security Systems with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science, Information Technology, Construction Management, or Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of related construction experience with a Master's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency in the Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling Method and General Contractor Schedules.
  • Extensive experience leading diverse teams & projects with construction budgets valued between $500K - $10M+ in Telecommunication Scopes.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience & established knowledge in complex markets on projects specific to Federal Aviation, & Government Airports, Higher-Education, Information Transit Systems.
  • Required knowledge within construction low-voltage functions including self-perform contracting, field coordination efforts, maintenance of schedule & prioritization of deliverable deadlines tied to each specialty-trade simultaneously.
  • Ability to utilize software including Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Accubid, Primavera P6, Microsoft Office & Excel.

Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information.
