The Position

Would you like to work across multiple industries, helping OEMs innovate and ensure their products are efficient, high-performing, and compliant?

We are looking for a Application Engineer to join our North American team. This team is responsible for supporting the acoustic and vibration portion of our business. Our growing organization needs a seasoned professional to focus broadly on sound and vibration measurement and analysis solutions, supporting a wide range of applications including noise, vibration, durability, and general acoustic testing across industries.

This is a highly customer-centric role, requiring close collaboration with sales, product management, and engineering teams, along with direct engagement with a diverse customer base. The range and depth of technical involvement will encompass both pre- and post-sales activities, from solution definition through implementation and ongoing support.

This position is remote from within the United States and will require approximately 25-35% travel.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical liaison in support of the sales organization.

  • Understand customer test and measurement requirements and evaluate/configure systems to meet their needs across the full measurement chain (transducers, signal conditioning, data acquisition, and analysis software).

  • Support a broad range of sound and vibration applications including acoustic analysis, vibration measurements, structural dynamics, and system-level troubleshooting.

  • Provide technical presentations and solution overviews to customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Deliver on-site and virtual demonstrations of HBK solutions.

  • Lead paid training sessions, workshops, and system installations.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for both hardware and software systems.

  • Participate in on-site customer tests to ensure proper system configuration and data integrity.

  • Conduct proactive outreach to the installed customer base to ensure high levels of user satisfaction and adoption.

  • Collaborate with development teams by relaying customer feedback, enhancement requests, and bug reports.

Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent industry experience.

  • 10+ years of engineering experience in sound and vibration, acoustics, structural dynamics, or related test and measurement disciplines.

  • Strong background in sound and vibration testing and analysis using commercial measurement software platforms.

  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation, including familiarity with industry-standard hardware platforms (e.g., acquisition systems or National Instruments platforms) is a plus.

  • Experience working with competitive sound and vibration analysis software platforms is a plus.

  • Ability to work remotely while traveling approximately one-third of the time within North America, with occasional international travel possible.

  • Must be able to travel freely within North America to support customers and internal teams.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Personal Skills

What we'd like to see in you:

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent technical presentation and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with customers.

  • Comfortable operating in a customer-facing, commercial environment.

  • Ability to take ownership of complex technical engagements from start to finish.

  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and eager to continuously learn and develop.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical guidance for customers.
