Job description

Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to be a key asset to our team of engineers working on solar, solar-plus-storage, and microgrid projects, typically ranging in size from 200kW to 10MW.

Your responsibilities will include developing detailed CAD plans for interconnection, permit, and construction documents, ensuring quality while meeting client expectations.

What will you do
  • Provide electrical engineering support for the engineering team, guiding the development of innovative Solar PV + ESS project designs
  • Develop permit, construction drawings and utility interconnection documents using Mayfieldโ€™s AutoCAD templates under the guidance of Senior Engineers
  • Ensure designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables from design to commissioning
  • Provide value engineering, optimized system designs, and client recommendations when appropriate
Skills & Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical design (PV+ESS design preferred)
  • Experienced in low-voltage commercial and industrial system design
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC/CEC, IFC, UL, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards
  • Exceptional problemโ€‘solving and strategic thinking abilities
  • Professional, proactive, positive communication skills for remote team collaboration
  • A growth mindset valuing continual learning and sharing lessons learned attitudes
Desired Characteristics
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Masterโ€™s preferred)
  • Electrical Professional Engineering (PE) license
