Scope of Responsibility: The Vice President of Telecom Engineering and Drafting will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, operations excellence and delivery of all engineering design and drafting functions. Leading the development, standardization, and innovation of industry-leading communication towers and antenna supporting structures, components, and their foundations. They will work with the leadership team to create overall lowest-cost solutions, ensure efficient plant operations, enhance product quality, and improve processes, procedures, workflows and cost containment efforts.
Essential Duties:
  • Provide strategic leadership, direction and operations support to engineering and drafting teams, ensuring effective resource allocation and alignment with organization goals and growth initiatives.
  • Serve as the company's technical authority, ensuring all designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements across all product lines.
  • Maintain full accountability for the engineering and drafting of communications towers, antenna supporting structures, components and foundations systems, ensuring accuracy, safety, and constructability.
  • Partner with executive leadership, internal stakeholders and external consultants, to develop and assist in determining lowest-cost solutions for new product development, large-scale turnkey construction projects and to optimize existing product lines.
  • Lead continuous evaluation of product lines to identify opportunities to reduce costs and number of distinct parts to improve efficiencies and economies of scale.
  • Collaborate with operations to research, develop, implement and monitor manufacturing processes methodologies that enhance plant efficiency, throughput, and enhance product quality
  • Support cross-functional teams in reviewing product costing to ensure accuracy and alignment with engineering design specification and manufacturing processes.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve cross-departmental procedural and workflow issues, driving process improvements and operational consistency.
  • Initiate and lead discussions with executive management regarding product strategy, innovation, and market-aligned product offering.
  • Ensures manufacturing processes, methods, work instructions, and supporting documentation are properly designed and maintained to uphold quality standards and maximize production efficiency.
  • Provide timely resolution to product design and engineering issues, minimizing project delays and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Supports, follows and enforces Sabre Industries Safety Program.
  • Makes certain that all Sabre procedures and policies are complied with.

Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural design or other closely related field of study. A PE/SE designation, or post-graduate education in engineering or business would be preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years engineering experience in steel structure design, preferably with a focus on telecom structures design.
  • Experience managing engineers and drafting design teams

Skills & Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of structural steel design, telecom towers, antenna supporting structures, foundations, and applicable industry codes and standards including TIA, AISC, ASCE, and OSHA requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering and drafting teams supporting the design, detailing, manufacturing, and execution of telecom structure projects.
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, manufacturing methodologies, weldments, and design-for-manufacturability principles to support operational efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain engineering procedures, drafting standards, quality documentation, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, fabrication drawings, calculations, and technical documentation to ensure compliance, accuracy, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, manufacturing, estimating, quality, procurement, and executive leadership to support strategic business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, improve processes, optimize product designs, and drive timely project execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to executive leadership, customers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer workstation for extended periods of time in an office environment.
  • Ability to occasionally tour manufacturing facilities and construction or fabrication areas, including walking through active production environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to visually review engineering drawings, technical documents, manufacturing details, and computer-generated designs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through electronic communication methods.
  • Must be able to comply with all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in manufacturing or production areas.
