GCS Group Is Growing Its HDD Telecom Crews

GCS Group is a Red Deer-based underground telecom contractor with active HDD installations running across central Alberta. We are currently expanding our drill crews and are looking to bring on both HDD Drillers and HDD Locators at all experience levels from entry-level candidates who are freshly certified and ready to prove themselves, all the way to seasoned operators who want a crew that matches their standard.

Whether you sit behind a Ditch Witch drill or work the SubSite equipment guiding it, if you take your craft seriously and want consistent work with a professional team, we want to hear from you.

Positions Available

  • HDD Driller Junior, Intermediate, and Experienced
  • HDD Locator Junior, Intermediate, and Experienced

What All Applicants Must Have

  • All required certifications must be valid and current before your start date this is a non-negotiable condition of employment at GCS Group regardless of position or experience level
  • Hands-on experience with Ditch Witch HDD drill equipment (Drillers) or SubSite locating systems (Locators)
  • A background in telecom, fibre, or underground utility construction is strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Physically capable of working outdoors on active construction sites in varying Alberta conditions

For HDD Drillers

We need operators at every level who can run Ditch Witch equipment on underground telecom bores. Junior drillers will work under direct supervision and learn from experienced crew members. Intermediate operators are expected to run bores with moderate oversight and coordinate actively with the locate team. Experienced drillers will take full ownership of the rig, manage crew, and deliver quality bores from pilot hole to pullback with minimal direction.

For HDD Locators

Our locators are a critical part of every bore we run. Junior locators will assist with locate setup and tracking under the guidance of a senior team member. Intermediate locators are expected to manage full locate duties semi-independently and communicate confidently with drill operators. Experienced locators will lead all locate functions on complex bores, handle pre-bore utility verification, and set the safety and accuracy standard for the crew.
