Summary
Position requires the incumbent to work as part of a team to perform site surveys, field walks, collecting field data and when possible assist with CAD design work.
Qualification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2+ years of experience using AutoCAD (preferred telecom drafting experience) - training will be provided
  • 0-2 + years of experience with ability to take direction and learn from experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to use and take care of fielding equipment
  • Ability and interest in performing work in the field
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather which may require lifting 15 to 20 lbs

  • Ability to travel between Greenville, SC and Columbia, SC (some travel outside these areas may be required)
  • Ability to be covered by company auto insurance plan

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Functions
  • Assess and determine fiber routing independently or with client
  • Collect and record existing field measurements for underground and aerial utilities
  • Operate and maintain company field equipment and tools
  • Anticipate potential conflicts in proposed design and note alternate options
  • Maintain field data until it can properly be handed off or transferred
  • Communicate effectively on a daily basis with Project Manager
  • Prepare drawings of field data using AutoCAD (as needed)
  • Work with project manager/engineers to develop construction drawings for utility projects and permitting (as needed)
  • Create permit drawings, utility schematics, & as-builts (as needed)

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be at site locations out in the field or within a building. Performing such duties may require the following functions: sit, stand, walk, use both hands, and reach and raise items above the head, use fingers to feel and handle, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight between 20-40 pounds.
Work Environment
Most work is performed externally, on-site, outdoors, with exposure to the elements of nature. 60% of travel within Columbia and Greenville, SC is required in support of this position. Approximately 40% of work performed is in a climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
