Job description

As a Strategic Sourcing and Contract Specialist you will support cross-operating group sourcing initiatives across Canada and the U.S. This key role partners closely with operations and leadership teams to identify sourcing opportunities, reduce supply chain risk, and drive cost efficiencies-particularly within construction, equipment, and raw material/commodity categories.
You are a subject matter expert in procurement and contract negotiation, with deep knowledge of strategic sourcing, market analysis, and vendor management in a project-driven environment. Your expertise supports annual savings targets by streamlining supply chain operations and driving innovation in procurement practices. You collaborate cross-functionally to align sourcing strategies with broader business goals, ensuring sustainable and measurable outcomes. Key responsibilities include conducting market and cost analyses, leading RFx processes, evaluating vendor proposals, supporting negotiations, and guiding the contracting and implementation phases.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market studies to assess supplier availability, capability, and competitiveness
  • Develop and issue RFPs, analyze vendor responses, and support vendor negotiations and contracting processes
  • Identify and assess sourcing opportunities, recommend solutions, and lead transitions to new vendors or models
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to drive accountability and realize sourcing initiative benefits
  • Provide procurement support during project mobilization phases, including local vendor negotiations for regional operations
  • Implement vendor scorecards, conduct business reviews, and support colleagues in vendor integration
  • Draft, revise, negotiate, and manage the full lifecycle of contracts in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Monitor ongoing contract performance and compliance, making necessary amendments and ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Analyze supply chain data and build cost models to identify inefficiencies, uncover cost-saving opportunities, and evaluate sourcing options to enhance procurement strategies
  • Work closely with internal experts to align procurement strategies with operational needs and identify areas for sourcing improvement

Qualifications:

  • Holds an MBA, Law degree, or equivalent advanced education, ideally with a focus on supply chain, operations, or procurement; complemented by certifications such as SCMP, CPCM, PMP, or Change Management
  • Proven experience leading procurement functions and making data-driven, strategic decisions aligned with organizational objectives
  • Extensive sourcing and supply chain expertise in mid-sized to large North American organizations, with familiarity in construction, contractor-based models, and infrastructure procurement
  • Background in industries such as construction, infrastructure, heavy civil mining, oil & gas, and wireless/telecom, with the ability to navigate complex supplier ecosystems
  • Skilled in supplier negotiations, achieving favorable terms while maintaining strong, collaborative vendor relationships
  • Deep understanding of modern supply chain strategies with the agility to adapt practices to dynamic business needs
  • Experienced in full contract lifecycle management, including negotiation, execution, compliance, and optimization of sourcing initiatives
  • Advanced ERP data analysis capabilities to enhance procurement processes, paired with strong relationship-building skills across all organizational levels

Work Environment:

  • This is a hybrid role involving both working from home and attending the office one to two days per week
