Compensation: $18โ$22 per hour
Position OverviewAre you passionate about supporting teens and creating spaces where they feel seen, heard, and inspired? As a Teen Development Associate, youโll play a key supporting role in delivering dynamic, engaging programs for youth ages 13โ18.
Working alongside experienced youth development staff, youโll help create a safe, welcoming, and enriching environment where teens can build confidence, develop new skills, and explore their interests. What Youโll Do
Support Engaging ProgramsAssist with the setup, facilitation, and cleanup of daily programs, workshops, and activities
Support the Teen Development Coordinator during sessions to keep youth engaged and participating
Prepare and distribute materials, supplies, and attendance sheets
Enter attendance and program data into Afterschool HQ
Provide general program support and assist with additional tasks as needed
Build Positive Youth RelationshipsCreate a welcoming and supportive environment for all teens
Build positive relationships that encourage participation, leadership, and growth
Model respectful communication and appropriate behavior at all times
Support behavior management in alignment with program expectations and staff guidance
Help Maintain a Safe & Welcoming Environment
Ensure program spaces are clean, organized, and ready for use
Monitor youth spaces to support both physical and emotional safety
Report any incidents or concerns promptly
Follow all site policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols
Collaborate with the TeamParticipate in team meetings and contribute to program planning
Communicate effectively with staff about youth needs, behavior, and engagement
Support special events, field trips, and outreach efforts
What You Bring
Required QualificationsMust be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or equivalent required (college coursework preferred)
Experience working or volunteering with teens is strongly preferred
Ability to connect with and support diverse youth populations
Strong communication skills, reliability, and teamwork
Availability during afterschool hours, with some evenings or weekends as needed
Ability to pass required background checks and complete certifications
Preferred QualitiesEnthusiastic, patient, and youth-centered approach
Interest in youth development, education, or social services
Familiarity with social-emotional learning, trauma-informed care, or restorative practices
Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute within a supportive team
Working EnvironmentThis is an active, on-site role based in youth centers, schools, or community spaces. Youโll be regularly moving throughout the site, engaging with youth, and supporting activities. Occasional local travel for events or field trips may be required.
