Job description

Senior Electro-Mechanical Assembler

A senior member of the Electro-Mechanical assemblers team. Assembles electrical components and circuits by reading and interpreting specifications, assembly drawings, outline drawings, and bills of materials. Wires components together, which may include cutting and bending conduit. Performs small precision assembly and assembly of large units as required. Fabricates or modifies parts or structures according to specifications, using drills and cutters. Completes documentation and maintains traceability records. Uses drawings and/or bill of materials to pull the correct parts for the assembly process. Performs assignments with minimal direction. Assists and guides lesser-skilled team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in a variety of manufacturing areas to include machining, winding, coil and other assembly, painting, testing, and shipping.
  • Performs in-process quality checks to include electrical testing, close tolerance measuring, and documentation.
  • Operates equipment and makes normal overhead crane lifts.
  • Reads and interprets complex manufacturing drawings and process specs.
  • Familiar with and has experience with ESD process and controls.
  • Works in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area.
  • Arrives at the work station on time with minimal absences and adheres to all company policies.
  • Performs quality work and exhibits pride in his/her efforts to manufacture to customer and TECO-Westinghouse standards.
  • Complies with applicable Company policies concerning maintaining a drug-free workplace.
  • Complies with all Company policies, including adherence to Company ISO 9001 Standards, the Company Affirmative Action Plan, and Company Safety procedures.
  • Incorporates the Standards of Excellence as outlined by TECO-Westinghouse (Pride, Desire, Teamwork, Attention to Detail, and Follow-through) into daily activities in order to create a Total Quality environment through personal commitment to excellence.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Scope, Purpose, and Frequency of Contacts: Interface with team members, customers, and other division workers.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of mechanical assembly related experience or 6 to 10 years of similar electrical or mechanical experience.

Supervision Received: Receives direct assignments from the team leader or supervisor. Works with minimal guidance.

Skills and Abilities: Average reading and math skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate ability to read and interpret language on drawings and understand oral instructions. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and fumes or airborne particles. Other exposures include wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
