Job Summary

The Sr. Director, IT Sourcing is responsible for setting and executing the global IT sourcing strategy to support CSL’s enterprise-wide Technology Modernization agenda, reduction in technical debt, major ERP and systems upgrades and key strategic programs. This role operates with enterprise-level visibility and influence, managing large-scale partnerships, and is accountable for driving multi-year value creation, governance, and innovation across CSL’s global technology supplier ecosystem. The role will establish and lead a best-in-class IT Sourcing Category team supporting $450M spend under management, supporting the Partnership Enterprise Office model and ensuring alignment between technology strategy, sourcing outcomes, and CSL’s long-term business objectives. It will need to regularly engage C-Suite executives from our key technology base. It will also have accountability for enterprise value delivery and risk outcomes.

Direct Reports:  Global IT Category Leads (5–8) plus matrix teams

Responsibilities:

IT Sourcing Strategy & Technology Modernization

  • Define and execute multi-year IT sourcing strategies aligned to CSL Technology Modernization programs.

  • Develop value delivery frameworks via strategic partnership models, ensuring measurable outcomes across cost, innovation, and capability uplift.

  • Align sourcing strategies with enterprise technology investment priorities and governance forums.

  • Proactively work with the business to reduce technical debt and collaborate on improving rigor to avoid new technical debt being created through partnerships and technical platforms sourced from within non-IT functions.

Strategic Supplier Relationship Management & Governance

  • Establish executive-level governance models with strategic IT suppliers aligned to CSL Partnership Enterprise Office principles.

  • Orchestrate supplier relationships across all levels including C-suite engagement to drive collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Lead governance forums, performance reviews, and value tracking mechanisms across IT partnerships.

  • Leads and structures global team to execute procurement and contracting activities fully aligned with the Strategic Priorities of IT and the wider business and in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Category Management, Procurement & Commercial Leadership

  • Own global IT sourcing categories including software, cloud, infrastructure, cyber, and digital services.

  • Lead complex commercial negotiations with hyperscalers, SaaS vendors, and strategic technology partners.

  • Drive total cost of ownership optimization, contract strategy, and commercial innovation.

Supplier Performance, Risk & Compliance Management

  • Establish KPIs, ensure value delivery, and oversee supplier performance and risk mitigation.

  • Establish and track KPIs across supplier performance, innovation delivery, and business value realization.

  • Lead risk management, resilience planning, and continuity strategies for critical IT services.

  • Ensure alignment with CSL compliance, security, and governance requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership

  • Partner with Technology, Finance, Legal, and Business stakeholders to shape sourcing strategies.

  • Coordinate sourcing activities supporting enterprise programs including transformation initiatives and digital platforms.

  • Influence major investment and vendor selection decisions.

Organizational Leadership & Capability Development

  • Establish a high-performing IT sourcing organization within Indirect Procurement.

  • Develop capability in cloud commercial models, digital sourcing, and supplier innovation.

  • Lead talent development, succession planning, and organizational design.

Innovation, Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive sourcing-led transformation initiatives supporting modernization programs.

  • Identify emerging technologies and market opportunities to enhance CSL competitiveness.

  • Implement continuous improvement across sourcing lifecycle and supplier engagement models.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Supply Chain or related field required

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 15+ years of senior leadership experience

  • Proven experience managing complex global supplier ecosystems or strategic partnerships

  • Deep expertise in IT sourcing including cloud, software, infrastructure and digital services

  • Experience operating in global matrix environments and influencing executive stakeholders

  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry or related industry preferred

Travel Requirements

The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $274,000 - $335,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position in Waltham, MA as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, total compensation for this role may also include incentive compensation and equity.
