Job description

Instructional Technology Manager


The Instructional Technology Manager oversees student data systems and ensures that data and technology are effectively used to inform instructional planning, differentiation, and decision-making, in conjunction with the Senior Data, Analytics, and Compliance Manager. The Instructional Technology Manager is also responsible for providing data analysis tools and training to teachers and school leaders. The Instructional Technology Manager reports to the Chief Academic Officer or designee. This job description is meant to provide structure to the responsibilities and accountability of this position. There may be additional responsibilities that are undertaken or that are assigned as the needs of students and or the school arise.


This is a 12-month position, which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under

the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.


Responsibilities


Technology in the Classrooms

  • In collaboration with the Academic Leadership Team, support the development and implementation of a vision for how technology enhances instructional quality, student engagement, and academic outcomes.
  • Lead campus-level professional learning focused on how teachers use technology and data systems to strengthen instructional planning, assessment, and differentiation.
  • Support teachers one-on-one in using technology and data to improve instructional practice, including planning, assessment, and targeted student supports.
  • Co-lead monthly training for our new teachers as part of the New Teacher Cohort.
  • Meet with teachers to analyze data, formulate instructional questions, interpret findings, and apply insights to instructional planning, grouping, and intervention decisions.


Instructional Innovation and Emerging Technologies

  • Support the responsible integration of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to enhance instructional planning, data analysis, and teacher efficiency, in alignment with school priorities and data privacy expectations.


System Management

  • Support the evaluation, selection, and management of student technology systems to ensure alignment with instructional priorities, assessment practice, and teacher workflows, including but not limited to: Clever, JumpRope, MAP, Circle, Educator’s Handbook, Panorama, ParentSquare, SkillsBlock, Bridges, mCLASS, CommonLit, Pear, and TCI.
  • Support the Technology Services Manager, as needed, to roll out technology hardware to students and staff.
  • Support school leadership teams in articulating their school’s technology needs, and work across teams to ensure the needs are met.
  • Troubleshoot support requests with our gradebook and Student Information System on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinate with the school leadership teams to support and monitor our implementation of assessments for the schools.


Network Student Systems Management

  • Create instructional-facing guides and resources that help teachers apply technology and data insights to classroom practice.
  • Implement tools and systems to monitor student use to ensure students are accessing safe and approved websites and tools.
  • Support and coordinate with the Academic Leadership Team to ensure our technology systems, implementation, and training align with the vision for professional learning designed by the Academic Leadership Team.
  • Coordinate with the Family Engagement Coordinator to develop family technology training opportunities and assist with technology needs at family events.
  • Resolve support requests via our universal ticketing system, FMX.
  • Generate user accounts and credentials for students and permanent and temporary staff members for our instructional systems.
  • Complete year-round system updates to reflect student and staff turnover.
  • Provide login support for teachers, staff, and students for various systems.
  • Provide general support for users as needed.


Student Grade Reporting

  • In collaboration with the Senior Data, Analytics, and Compliance Manager, design and generate student report cards and student transcripts in ways that clearly communicate academic progress and instructional priorities to educators and families.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Data, Analytics, and Compliance Manager, prepare student progress reports and report cards for teachers before student conferences.
  • Maintain documentation that tracks historical decisions regarding grading and transcript creation.
  • Provide support to school leaders and teachers for grading and troubleshooting issues within the system.


Professional Responsibilities

  • All full-time employees are expected to work a 40-hour work week. 12-month exempt employees must begin their day no later than 9:00 am and must end their day no later than 6:00 pm unless otherwise approved by the direct supervisor as required by the School’s operational needs. 12-month employees should operate with a standard schedule that is approved by the direct supervisor and ensures teams meet all operational and coverage needs, which includes events such as after-school events and activities. School-based leadership teams must be present for arrival and dismissal. All non-exempt employees will be required to be provided a non-duty, unpaid lunch.
  • Be on time for meetings, duties, and professional development activities.
  • Observe proper decorum, including adherence to dress codes and proper courtesies and respect in all dealings with students, parents, guardians, visitors, and fellow employees.
  • Attend and participate in school events.
  • Check voicemail and email daily and respond promptly to requests from parents, administrators, and colleagues.
  • Report all suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) and a school administrator. See the Staff Handbook for additional information.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science, Instructional Technology Design, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in end-user training, instructional design, or technology adoption.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise language for advanced and novice learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to create accessible and effective training materials.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with experience leading both live and virtual sessions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in collaborative environments.
  • Strong writing and program management skills.
