Job description

IT Engineer (System Engineer)

■ Job Title: IT Engineer (System Engineer)

■ Location: Montgomery, Alabama (On-Site)

■ Terms: Full-time

■ Position Overview

HD Hyundai Power Transformers USA is seeking an IT Engineer (System Engineer) to take ownership of the enterprise systems behind our power-transformer manufacturing operation. The System Engineer operates and improves the company’s ERP environment, builds and integrates HCM and in-house applications, and drives SOC 2 compliance — working across the full stack from business-process design through development and ongoing operations. The role partners closely with both end users and HD Hyundai’s headquarters (HQ) in Korea, translating business needs into reliable, well-governed systems. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical depth with the analytical and cross-functional skills to standardize and continuously improve how the company runs its core systems.

■ Key Responsibilities

1. HQ Liaison & ERP Operations (SAP S/4HANA / Legacy ERP)

  • Serve as the on-site technical liaison with HD Hyundai HQ IT for the customized SAP S/4HANA and legacy ERP environment.
  • Translate user issues into HQ technical specifications, and HQ resolutions into end-user guidance.
  • Administer the ERP user environment (provisioning/deprovisioning, role/permission mapping) and resolve access issues.
  • Coordinate UAT and validate ERP changes and updates deployed by HQ.

2. SOC 2 Compliance & External Audit Support

  • Coordinate the company’s SOC 2 Type II audit readiness across IT infrastructure, security controls, user access management, and operational procedures.
  • Orchestrate the audit engagement, aligning cross-functional teams and the external auditor on scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Collect evidence, document controls, and resolve findings, carrying the engagement through to SOC 2 Type II certification.

3. HCM (ADP) Implementation & Integration

  • Build and operate the company’s HCM (ADP) system to meet HD Hyundai’s global HR standards, configuring ADP to implement the company’s specific business processes.
  • Review and analyze inefficient legacy HR processes and proactively define improvements, then implement the redesigned processes in ADP.
  • Establish reliable, secure data integration between ADP and the ERP systems, ensuring HR and access data remain accurate and audit-ready across the organization.

4. In-house Full-Stack Application Development

  • Design and develop in-house full-stack applications that digitize and streamline core business processes.
  • Build out an integrated suite of internal systems — such as electronic-signature approval workflows, employee-master management, and role-based access control for SOC 2 — designed to operate as one cohesive platform.
  • Drive each application end-to-end — from business-process and workflow design with end users, through build, deployment, and ongoing operations.
  • Architect applications to be SOC 2-compliant by design, with security controls and audit logging.

5. Enterprise IT Standardization & Ongoing Operations

  • Author and maintain English-language operating procedures localized from HQ documentation; conduct cross-departmental onboarding and rollout.
  • Maintain the company homepage and supporting internal systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

■ Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant IT experience.
  • Korean–English bilingual proficiency (business-essential): full professional reading and writing in Korean is required for daily coordination with HQ, ERP operations, and the SOC 2 audit.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA including the PS module, understanding project-based manufacturing processes in ERP.
  • Working knowledge of IT security controls and SOC 2 compliance, including support for external SOC 2 Type II audits.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data retrieval, validation, and reporting.
  • Experience designing database schemas, including relational data modeling, normalization, and schema definition for application development.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

■ Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft 365 administration and configuration experience (e.g., permission management, Teams, SharePoint and Exchange Online, user/group administration).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 productivity applications, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data validation) and PowerPoint for reporting and documentation.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for workflow and task automation, with demonstrated ability to apply them to operational processes.
  • AWS cloud architecture and business-process/workflow design experience.
  • Full-stack development experience (Next.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • REST API design and integration experience.
  • ADP enterprise HR-system integration experience.

■ Core Competencies

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Adaptability and willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural and multilingual environment.
  • Proactive communication and collaboration skills.

■ Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual performance-based bonus.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company-sponsored retirement savings plan (e.g., 401(k) or equivalent).
  • Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave).
  • Visa sponsorship for eligible international candidates.
  • Relocation support (if applicable).
  • Employee wellness programs and professional development opportunities.
