Job description

Paid work experience + fully covered associate degree! Consumer Credit Union's (CCU’s) Technology Apprenticeship Program provides a paid, full‑time opportunity to launch your technology career while earning your Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration—with 100% tuition, books, and fees covered. Apprentices gain hands‑on experience supporting CCU’s technology and digital operations at our Lake Forest corporate office.

We are seeking high school graduates (including upcoming 2026 grads) and career changers who have not yet begun—or have completed only limited—college coursework.

Program Details

  • 2-year paid program (6 semesters, including summers)
  • Attend classes to earn your Associate of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Degree at College of Lake County (CLC)
  • Start working July 2026; classes begin August 2026
  • Work 40 hours per week split between work and college classes
  • Gain hands-on work experience. You will develop technical, analytical, and professional skills while assisting with IT support, systems, and digital banking-related activities in a collaborative corporate environment.
  • Earn hourly pay + eligible for benefits and an annual bonus opportunity
  • Tuition, books, and fees covered in full
  • Receive mentorship, professional development, and opportunities for increased responsibility
  • Must maintain passing grades of 'C' or higher and meet job performance expectations
  • The program is designed to prepare you for long‑term roles in areas like IT support, systems administration, digital banking, and other technology specialties within CCU.

About the Technology Apprentice Role

As a Technology Apprentice, you will rotate through key technology functions gaining exposure to:

  • End-user support (hardware, software, connectivity, account access, digital banking)
  • Support ticket triage, documentation, and resolution
  • Device provisioning, onboarding/offboarding, and asset management
  • Troubleshooting, patching, and system monitoring
  • Business application and enterprise system support and maintenance
  • Network, server, and storage maintenance (Windows & Linux)
  • Cybersecurity activities including vulnerability assessments and incident response
  • Digital banking platform support, testing, and issue tracking
  • As a condition of employment, a background check will be re-verified on an ongoing basis as determined by Consumers Credit Union.

Apprentices work closely with Technology team members to deliver reliable technology services, resolve technical issues, and support the secure operation of CCU’s technology environment. This is an ideal position for someone eager to begin a career in technology, develop a broad technical skill set, and learn through hands-on experience in a collaborative, real-world environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Age 18+ by July 1, 2026
  • 1 year of customer service and/or IT experience
  • Strong interest in building a career in banking/financial services and technology
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS office, email, data entry)
  • Communication, multitasking, teamwork, and learning mindset
  • Ability to commit to Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week for work and school
  • Acceptance into CLC's Associates of Applied Sciences program

Compensation & Benefits

Starting rate is $20.50/hour. Eligible for an annual bonus opportunity and merit increases.

You will be eligible to participate in the 401(k) savings plan at any time. You will be automatically enrolled in the pension plan following six months of employment and 1,000 hours of service and reaching age 20.
