Job Description

In this key technical sales role, the successful applicant will serve as the expert consultant to Imperx’s customers in defense, machine vision and scientific imaging, coordinating with internal project managers and engineers to close deals for the delivery of standard and custom imaging solutions. The Technical Sales Engineer is supported by Imperx’s in‑house customer service and technical support teams, and reports to the company’s Sales Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Manage customer accounts including direct accounts, OEM customers, distributors in the US, and international customers
  • Deliver on sales growth.
  • Identify, prospect, secure, and document business opportunities with both new and existing customers to support revenue growth.
  • Follow‑up on leads received directly, through email, trade shows, and other channels of distribution to cultivate new business or increase business with existing customers.
  • Document sales activities, establishing customer databases through HubSpot or other CRM sales tools.
  • Actively manage your sales pipeline, improving ability to predict current and future sales.
  • This is primarily an on‑site role, but a small amount of travel might be required
Mandatory Requirements
  • BSc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Optics, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of industrial cameras and applications
  • Technical knowledge of PCs, PCI/PCI Express, and peripherals (USB, etc.)
  • Experience selling to the military & defense market as well as industrial markets is a plus.
  • At least three years’ experience in technical sales or applications engineering with direct customer interfacing.
  • Ability to identify and call on decision makers in customer organizations.
  • Skilled at call preparation, negotiations, and closing sales.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Entrepreneurial and independently motivated; will be required to deliver sales growth.
  • Persistent, able to overcome obstacles and answer customer objections.
  • Consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to sell complete imaging solutions, including hardware and software.
  • Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident due to ITAR work.
  • Background checks may be required for employment.
