To thrive as a Technical Project Program Manager, you need strong project management skills, technical acumen, and experience with methodologies like Agile or Waterfall, often supported by a relevant degree and certifications such as PMP or Scrum Master. Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, MS Project) and enterprise systems is typically required. Technical Project Program Managers often act as a bridge between engineering, product, design, and business teams. They facilitate communication by organizing regular sync meetings, tracking progress, and clarifying project requirements. This ensures that all stakeholders are aligned on goals, timelines, and deliverables. Successful collaboration relies on strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate technical details for non-technical teams while managing dependencies and addressing potential roadblocks promptly.
