Job description

Substation Engineer / Technical Project Manager

Join a growing engineering team leading utility substation projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. This role blends technical leadership, project management, and client engagement, overseeing projects from concept through construction while mentoring engineers and driving successful project delivery.

What You'll Do
  • Lead greenfield and brownfield substation, switching station, and collector station projects from planning through closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and overall financial performance.
  • Serve as the primary client contact and coordinate internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership for substation design deliverables, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and construction support.
  • Collaborate with civil, structural, transmission, protection & controls, and SCADA teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Support proposals, contract negotiations, design reviews, and client presentations.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
  • 7+ years of utility substation experience, including 3+ years managing projects.
  • Strong experience leading substation design and engineering deliverables.
  • Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE license or EIT certification.
  • Experience across multiple voltage levels (13kV-500kV+).
  • Background in substation physical design and/or protection & controls.
  • Previous mentoring or team leadership experience.
