Hawkins Service Company is a leading home services provider specializing in Residential Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Gas, New Pool Wiring & Automation and Pool Equipment Repair throughout the Tampa Bay area. We are committed to delivering exceptional service through professionalism, integrity, and outstanding customer care, and our team takes pride in high-quality workmanship and long-term customer relationships.
Position Overview
Hawkins Service Company is seeking an experienced Residential Electrical Operations Manager to take full ownership of our Tampa electrical service and installation department. This role is the single point of accountability for the department - controlling all aspects of its people, performance, P&L, scheduling, quality, and customer outcomes. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong residential electrical background who knows how to run a profitable, high-performing department while developing the team underneath them.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Financial Management
• Own full day-to-day operations of the residential electrical department, including all technicians, apprentices, and support staff assigned to it
• Manage departmental P&L performance and KPIs - revenue, close rate, average ticket, labor efficiency, and callback/rework rate - and report results regularly to the Director of Operations
• Develop and execute operational plans to hit revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and local permitting/inspection requirements
• Build and adjust technician schedules to meet customer demand, seasonal call volume, and on-call/emergency coverage
• Own warehouse and truck inventory for the department - stocking levels, restock cadence, and loss prevention
• Maintain and continuously improve department SOPs, and implement Nexstar and ServiceTitan best practices to their fullest potential
Team Leadership & Development
• Recruit, interview, and select electricians, apprentices, and support staff; partner with HR to execute onboarding, offers, and separations
• Coach technicians on technical excellence, customer communication, and service/sales opportunities
• Conduct monthly ride-alongs and 1:1 coaching sessions with every technician, plus regular performance evaluations
• Hold the team accountable for safety, productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, and revenue goals
• Ensure incentive and performance pay plans are applied fairly and documented consistent with Hawkins' pay plan structure
• Foster a positive, accountable, high-performance culture and set the tone for the department every day
Customer Experience & Technical Oversight
• Serve as the final point of escalation for customer concerns, resolving them promptly and professionally
• Review completed work orders, proposals, invoices, options sheets, and timecards for accuracy and quality
• Provide technical guidance and act as field backup on panel upgrades, rewires, EV charger installations, generators, lighting, and pool electrical systems
• Maintain high standards for workmanship and customer satisfaction, including online review ratings
Business Development
• Build relationships with builders, contractors, property managers, and other referral partners
• Identify opportunities to expand electrical service offerings and grow department revenue
• Partner with marketing, dispatch, and customer service to drive business growth
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of residential electrical experience, including prior experience managing electrical operations, service teams, or field personnel
• 5+ years of P&L management experience
• Strong understanding of residential electrical systems, troubleshooting, and code compliance
• Experience recruiting, training, and developing technicians
• Proficiency with ServiceTitan (or similar FSM software) and Microsoft Office
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred, based on state requirements
• Experience with the Nexstar Service System and pool electrical/automation systems a plus
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or less to serve customers if required
Competencies for Success
• Strong leadership and coaching ability, with a track record of running a department with full ownership
• Sound, quick decision-making in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
• Outstanding written and verbal communication with both customers and technicians
• Highly organized, with exceptional follow-through
• Results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement and strong problem-solving skills
Compensation & Benefits
