Job Title: Technical Business Analyst
Location: Plymouth, Michigan
Duration: Long Term
Experience: 0-20 YearsJob Description: Technical Business Analyst (Smartsheet Specialist)
We are seeking a high-caliber Technical Business Analyst for a critical, high-visibility strategic initiative. This role is not just about managing sheets; it is about evaluating the very fabric of our operational infrastructure within our Enterprise Productivity Team.
You will lead the technical and functional audit of our current Smartsheet ecosystem to determine if we should renew, migrate to a new external vendor, or consolidate into our internal tool stack. You will be the bridge between deep technical workflow architecture and executive-level strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: Discovery & Requirements Audit
Conduct a "boots-on-the-ground" audit of all current Smartsheet teams and workspaces.
Catalog complex workflows, automation rules, and third-party integrations (e.g., DataShuttle, Bridge, Dynamic View).
Distinguish between "nice-to-have" features and mission-critical "must-haves" to prevent requirement creep.
Phase 2 & 3: Gap Analysis & Market Assessment (Parallel Tracks)
Internal Analysis: Map Smartsheet capabilities against our internal tool stack. Identify where internal tools can absorb workflows and where significant "feature gaps" exist.
External RFI: Partner with Procurement to lead a Request for Information (RFI) process. Evaluate external vendors against our validated requirements and score their performance/cost-benefit ratio.
Phase 4: Strategic Synthesis
Develop a data-backed recommendation report for executive leadership.
Provide a clear roadmap for either a renewal or a migration strategy, ensuring the path forward is viable before the 2027 deadline.
Required Skills & Experience
Smartsheet Mastery: 4+ years of experience building and managing enterprise-level Smartsheet environments. You should be comfortable with Control Center, Pivot App, and complex cross-sheet formulas.
Analytical Rigor: Proven ability to perform "Gap Analysis"—comparing what a business needs versus what a specific software provides.
Vendor Management: Experience assisting with RFI/RFP processes and evaluating SaaS vendors.
Stakeholder Influence: Ability to interview diverse teams (from Engineering to Marketing) and translate their functional needs into technical requirements.
Strategic Foresight: Experience in long-term software lifecycle planning (2-3 year horizons).
