$80,502 - $88,860 salary package - includes base salary ($70,926 - $78,289), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (paid pro-rata)

About the role

Join our dynamic team as a Technical Assistant, where you will be responsible for class preparation, storing and monitoring supplies and producing, maintaining and servicing teaching aids and equipment to support teaching staff with the effective and efficient delivery of educational programs.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and cleaning the workshop, and preparing workshops ready for classes
  • Performing servicing, maintenance, cleaning and routine repairs of workshop tools and equipment
  • Preparing materials for classes, including cutting steel to required lengths using power tools
  • Maintaining, servicing and running signage equipment to ensure effective operation of the equipment 
  • Stock management and supply ordering

As part of this role, you may be required to travel and provide support for classes at TAFE campuses beyond Richmond.

About You

You bring hands-on experience, a practical mindset and strong organisational skills. You're comfortable preparing materials, maintaining equipment and keeping workshops safe and ready for use.

You work well both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative, reliability and attention to detail. You're confident using tools and equipment, with the ability to carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs.

With a focus on customer service, you build positive relationships with staff and students and contribute to a supportive team environment.

Essential Requirements

  • A valid Working with Children Check (required prior to commencement).
  • Qualifications appropriate to the role and trades area and/or relevant industry experience in horticulture.
  • Demonstrated ability to service, clean, repair and safely operate workshop machinery.
  • Demonstrated application of practical, administration and computer skills to support supply, stores, maintenance, warehouse related duties and record keeping or similar activities.
  • Demonstrated customer service, organisational skills and ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate a Skid Steer
  • As required, possession of or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of employment, the following:
    • Drivers Licence
    • Forklift Licence
