Job description


The Training and Technical Assistance Specialist will collaborate with the Senior Director to develop and deliver training and technical assistance related to human trafficking, available services, and best practices for identifying and supporting victims of human trafficking across CHNJ initiatives. This position will provide specialized training and ongoing technical assistance to law enforcement agencies participating in CHNJ's Human Trafficking STAR Diversion Program, supporting their understanding and application of program practices. The Specialist will serve as a subject matter resource by facilitating trainings, providing guidance to partners, and promoting effective approaches for responding to human trafficking cases and supporting victims within the STAR Diversion Program.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Co-develop training and technical assistance materials.
  • Update training materials as needed.
  • Conduct trainings on diversion and screening for human trafficking with law enforcement agencies participating in the STAR program.
  • Support implementation of screening tools and diversion programs within designated law enforcement agencies through the provision of technical assistance and programmatic support
  • Conduct training on human trafficking, screening tools for identification of victims, victim-centered practices, and CHNJ services
  • Conduct outreach to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and social service providers to identify opportunities to increase professionals' ability to identify and respond to human trafficking.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and key stakeholders to enhance training efforts, support the successful delivery of services, and promote effective communication and coordination.,
  • Leverage training and outreach opportunities to promote awareness of CHNJ services, foster partnerships, and encourage referrals from community and system partners.
  • Ensure implemented protocols maintain fidelity to project model and best practices
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders and project partners as appropriate
  • Support fulfillment of grant reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of purposes policies, standards and procedures involved in doing social work as it relates to homelessness, human trafficking, and other identified barriers
  • Required to respond to the work phone daily.
  • Required to read and respond to emails daily.
  • Represent the agency as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the agency supervisor.

Hourly Rate: $40.00
* This position is 4 days a week 32 Hours
Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, criminal justice, public policy, or a related field required. Lived and professional experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in, with, or training law enforcement preferred.
  • Knowledge of human trafficking, and experience working with survivors of human trafficking preferred
  • Strong skills in Canva and developing slide decks preferred
  • Valid NJ Driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Must have own vehicle for transportation
  • Individuals with lived experience of human trafficking and/or homelessness are strongly encouraged to apply
