These roles typically require extensive experience, advanced certifications, and leadership skills, with compensation varying by industry and location.

What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

In the US, high-paying roles such as senior executive positions (e.g., CEOs, CFOs), successful entrepreneurs, and top-tier investment bankers can earn $500,000 or more annually. Certain specialized medical professionals, like neurosurgeons and anesthesiologists, and highly experienced tech managers with executive responsibilities may also reach this level, especially with bonuses and stock options. Achieving this income typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and often leadership or ownership roles.

How much do technology managers make in the US?

How do Tech Managers typically balance hands-on technical work with people management responsibilities?

Tech Managers often face the challenge of balancing their technical expertise with the demands of leading a team. In most organizations, they spend a portion of their time on code reviews, architectural decisions, and technical problem-solving, while also dedicating significant energy to mentoring, conducting one-on-ones, and facilitating team collaboration. The exact split can vary depending on company size and project phase, but successful Tech Managers prioritize clear communication and delegation to ensure both technical goals and team development are met. This role offers opportunities to influence both technology direction and team culture.

To thrive as a Tech Manager, you need a solid background in software development or IT, leadership experience, and often a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools (like Jira or Trello), cloud platforms, and sometimes certifications such as PMP or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are valuable. Strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills set outstanding Tech Managers apart. These competencies are crucial for effectively leading technical teams, ensuring successful project delivery, and aligning technology initiatives with business goals.

Job description

Description:

Are you a technology leader who enjoys connecting business strategy with innovative technology? At ENVE, we're looking for an experienced technology leader to help shape the future of our technology within our newly global organization. This isn't a traditional IT management role. We're seeking someone who can build teams, develop technology strategy, and translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions that help our company grow. You'll oversee both our internal IT operations and our software engineering capabilities—including enterprise applications, ERP strategy, web development, data warehousing, and business intelligence—while partnering with technical specialists who own the day-to-day infrastructure. If you're energized by solving complex business problems through technology, developing high-performing teams, and helping organizations scale globally, we'd love to meet you.

ENVE Composites, based in Ogden, Utah, is a leading manufacturer of premium carbon fiber bicycle components and bikes. Since 2007, we’ve been driven by innovation, precision, and passion for creating world-class products. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals who take pride in their work and support one another in a collaborative environment.

What you’ll do…

This role combines strategic technology leadership with practical execution. You'll help define ENVE's technology roadmap while leading the people, vendors, and systems that keep our business moving.

Working closely with executive leadership, you'll oversee:

  • Enterprise business systems and ERP strategy
  • Internal IT operations and technology support
  • Web application development
  • Data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives
  • Cybersecurity governance and risk management
  • Global technology initiatives supporting our U.S. headquarters and international operations

You'll lead a talented group—including internal employees, consultants, and external partners—ensuring the right expertise is in place while removing roadblocks and aligning technology investments with business objectives.

This role is probably a great fit if you...

  • Enjoy leading highly skilled technical teams while empowering subject matter experts to excel.
  • Can translate business challenges into practical technology solutions.
  • Understand ERP systems and how they connect manufacturing, finance, operations, and sales.
  • Think in systems rather than individual technologies.
  • Enjoy building teams and helping people succeed.
  • Can confidently communicate with executives one moment and developers the next.
  • Know when to dive into technical details—and when to empower others.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12–18 months, you'll help ENVE:

  • Build a scalable global technology strategy.
  • Continue strengthening our ERP environment.
  • Advance our data warehouse and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Develop high-performing IT and engineering teams.
  • Improve cybersecurity and technology governance.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation.
  • Create technology systems that support ENVE's continued global growth.

We're not looking for someone who is an expert in every technology. We have talented specialists and trusted technology partners to provide technical expertise. We're looking for a leader who understands how technology fits together, can build exceptional teams, make sound strategic decisions, and ensure technology enables business success.

This is a rare opportunity to build and shape the future of technology at ENVE. As we continue expanding globally, you'll have the opportunity to define our technology roadmap, mature our systems, grow high-performing teams, and influence executive decision-making across the organization.

While no candidate is expected to possess deep technical expertise across every discipline, successful candidates will have the leadership, business acumen, and systems perspective to guide technical specialists, establish strategic direction, and deliver technology solutions that support ENVE's continued growth.

  • Company-paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Employee discounts on ENVE products

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Full-time position, Monday–Friday, 8-hours
  • Occasional extended hours, weekends, or alternate shifts may be required (1-2x per year)
