Job description

Job Title: Senior Associate - Partnership Tax for Multiple Openings

Approved Locations: 3333 Finley Road, Suite 700, Downers Grove, IL 60515

Job Description:

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Perform compliance for complex tax returns and provide tax consulting services for partnership and S corporation clients. 

  • Collaborate with the Partnership Business team and make recommendations on return preparation and tax savings opportunities, focusing on accuracy, quality and client service. 

  • Support multiple client service teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; actively assist in proposal activities and manage to budget. 

  • Develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews. 

  • Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters. 

  • Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities. 

  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure deadlines are met, and enhance client relationships.

You have the following technical skills and qualifications:

  • Requirement - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, a related field, or a foreign equivalent.

  • Relevant experience - 2 years of experience in job offered or any tax/accounting related job titles.

  • Applicants must have experience in the following: (1) Tax compliance or tax consulting experience in public accounting or a combination of industry and public accounting experience; (2) US GAAP, partnership returns, joint venture and non-corporate entity tax returns and Sub-chapter K partnership taxation; (3) working Advising Asset Management, Private Equity, and Hedge Fund clients with the regulatory industry environment; (4) Driving processes with tax compliance projects using Thomson Reuters GoSystem, SharePoint, CCH Axcess, Engagement Management, or Go File Room; (5) process improvement and streamlining tax processes for efficiency and accuracy; (6) Developing and leading training for team members in Asset Management tax; (7) Working Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 704b accounts for clients; (8) consulting on Sub-chapter K-Partnership taxation; and (9) responding to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities. 

  • CPA licensure (in U.S. or other jurisdiction) 

  • Up to 5% domestic travel required for client assignments. 

  • Must live within a commutable distance to the assigned Grant Thornton Office location to meet 3 days per week work from office requirement.

Compensation for role: $109,700 - $112,000 per year
