About You
You are responsible for completing governmental regulatory compliance obligations related to Sales and Use tax reporting and other applicable tax areas, as needed. You maintain accurate tax records and related schedules and perform tax impact analyses as required.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reviews sales tax data to determine tax implications of transactions and ensure accurate state sales and use tax reporting and payments. Performs discrepancy analyses between third-party compliance vendor liability reports and filed returns and prepares and files returns not supported by the vendor.
  • Maintains accounts receivable sales tax and exemption setups, including determination of applicable taxing jurisdictions and customer exemption eligibility. Maintains and validates resale and exemption certificates in accordance with state-specific requirements.
  • Monitors new and changing state and local sales and use tax laws, including tax rate changes. Maintains and updates state and local tax rate administrative screens within the invoicing system.
  • Analyzes purchase transactions to identify use tax liabilities for all locations. Prepares and records monthly use tax accruals in the general ledger.
  • Assists with state sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation, responding to information requests, and supporting audit resolutions.
  • Performs initial tax research related to sales and use tax matters and other tax-related topics. Summarizes findings and assists in determining appropriate courses of action.
  • Compiles documentation and supporting data for various tax credit determinations, including research and development credits, oil tax credits, and fuel tax credits, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Reconciles tax-related general ledger accounts and prepares related journal entries as necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assists with the preparation of state apportionment factors for state income tax purposes
  • Assists with data collection for annual personal property tax assessments and required annual corporate report filings.
  • Processes electronic state quarterly estimated income tax payments.
  • Maintains organized electronic files for all tax returns, forms, and workpapers in accordance with department standards.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Specifications
  • Degree/Diploma in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn: SAP, SAP Ariba, CCH AnswerConnect, Vertex O Series, Vertex Certificate Center, and Vertex's MSO compliance service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work Experience: 5-7 years
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal
