Job Description:
The Tax Analyst in our State & Local Tax Indirect tax group will be responsible for day-to-day indirect tax services for our clients in various industries.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate on various client service engagement teams that support a wide range of clients
  • Interact with and provide support to clients on various sales and use tax functions, compliance, and consulting matters
  • Preparation, review, and filing of sales and use tax returns
  • Analyze and reconcile data to support the sales and use tax compliance process
  • Retrieve, process, and finalize tax data from the client's system through GTM's sales and use tax processes and software
  • Reconcile client's internal sales and use tax general ledger accounts
  • Log, research, and respond to client tax notices and inquiries
  • Assist the team and leadership in implementing, upgrading, and maintaining tax technology tools used to support clients' processes
  • Prepare, review, and file client business registrations
  • File refund claims, protests, and voluntary disclosures as required
  • Implementation and support of procedural changes due to regulatory requirements
  • Conduct research to remain current with legislative changes made to applicable tax laws
  • Supply data as required for audit support

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study
  • 0-2 years of state and local sales and use tax experience preferred; however, will consider an entry-level candidate with technical aptitude and interest in a career in tax
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Ability to use standard tax applications and research tools, preferred
  • Working knowledge of relevant information utilized in tax filings
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal team members and client personnel
  • Ability to foster relationships both internally as well as with clients
  • Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and to travel to local client locations
